COMMIT!!!!!!

 DAY 45!

Hey world! How is everyone doing? Are you keeping up with your healthy lifestyle? I hope so :) I know I have not posted a blog in a while this is due to me just being busy...work..working out...keeping on track and of course hanging out with some friends when I can since in Kansas it is in the 90's right now!!!

Today is pretty cool for me personally because now for 45 days I have been working out DAILY and eating HEALTHY! I recently bought two new magazines. One is Fitness RX and the other is Health I believe. I must say Fitness RX is more for work outs and what food to make...more body building...and Health I have not read too much into it. Overall I like Fitness RX better. WW (weight watchers) is by far my favorite so far. I am buying about 2 magazines a week and trying to get different ones to see what is the best. What I can learn the most from. I think it would help you too!! I plan on buying a calendar from B&N too! All the motivation I can get..the better!

I posted on my facebook two newer pictures of me and a couple of friends noticed in my face the weight loss. I can too!!! <3 it. I feel that you can notice in my face, arms, legs, tummy not so much :(  I asked a friend I know (who is a personal trainer) what I could do to help tummy part he said "the mid section is the most difficult to rid of for everyone, just keep it up, it will come. As far as stomach, that's something that would have to be shown." With this text I am happy that "it will come" I will NOT give up! I will STAY COMMITED!!!!!!

Some people ask how have I been loosing weight? What is my food plan? Well, all along I have said this:

1- I work out daily. First few weeks I did 30 mins and I gradually increased the time. Now I am at a hour and a half a day. And I got just 3pds weights and work out my arms to help tone :)

2- I eat healthy. I watch my intake and make healthy choices! I keep a mental count of how many calories I am in taking verses what I burn off. What I have been reading/hearing is stay around 1200-1500 NO MORE!! Eat Clean!

Here is a smoothie I want to try I just found it so I have not tried it yet but I want to so here it is...if you try it let me know what grade you would put on it!! A,B,C,D....

I want to also say one last thing before I end you with motivation pictures. When working out listen to MUSIC it makes time go by faster and you can workout to the beat. I know I sound like a broken record but if you are serious about living healthy this will help :)

I will share with you my music list...most of these are OLDER songs because well....every 1.29 on i-tunes adds up! LOL here and there I will buy new tracks...

TRACKS:
1-Calvin Harris feel So Close
2-Ellie Goulding Lights (remix)
3-Benny Benassi Satisfaction (remix)
4-Daft Punk Technologic
5-Kat De Luna Whine Up
6- Chris Brown Turn Up the Music
I have more waaaaaaaay more like 32 but those are a few of my favs. I like up beat songs!! Also a good cd is Ultra Cd(s) they re do new songs so they are up beat! <3 them!

Last, here is a couple of pictures for motivation. EnJoY!

because YOU CAN do it!!!

Sooooooooooooo True!

That's all for now, STAY STRONG. STAY COMMITED. *WE* CAN DO THIS :)

Knowledge IS Power

DAY 38!

Hey everyone I'm back! Today is DAY 38 of my new journey! I am so glad I made this decision to be healthy! I have learned so much thus far so in this blog I will share with you more knowledge and tips :) Let's get to it!

Here are 5 MUST DO's that are very important or else I wouldn't post them :) LOL and as I have said before unless I wouldn't or have not I wouldn't post it. I will give you a CHECK mark if I apply the particular rule to my new lifestyle!

Drink water It’s a good idea to have water available and drink several or more glasses throughout the day. How to know if you’re hydrated? If urine color is clear or nearly clear you are likely drinking enough water. Once you start drinking water you will be addicted to it like me! I love ICE COLD water! The colder the better!! check mark.

Sodas Give up sodas, including diet. Ever since lent (yes, I am catholic) I gave up soda! So it has been waaaaay past 38 days for me not drinking soda I didn't relapse or anything :) I even gave up tea. If you must drink something other then water I would stick with green tea, or fruit smoothies. Just get some fruit add ice and blend in a blender!!! Do not add sugar! Check mark.

Avoid junk food and fast food. So, 38 days without fast food is awesome! One it saves me a ton of money and now that I know about how processed the food is and the intake of calories I will avoid fast food at all cost! Example, if you eat two cheeseburgers from shoot any fast food chain  that intake is my whole day worth of small meals through out the day! Breakfast for me: oats with banana 100 cal, lunch fruit 0 cal, dinner I COOK my meals out of the book EAT THIS NOT THAT book and I choose the ones that stay under 500 Cal's. YES I might get some criticism about this because my intake is 600 ish calories a day. I myself am still learning how to eat healthy. However I do eat fast food anymore and aside from working out this is probably on the top of list of the best things I have ever done for my body.
check. check. check. check.

Eat more fresh fruits, veggies, nuts, lean protein and low fat dairy and avoid processed foods that are packed with sodium and refined sugar. check.

Eat smaller portions, about the size of your fist. Eat 5-6 small meals each day and never have hunger pains. I so agree. At work I get hungry and sometimes it may just because at the time I have nothing to do at that particular moment or I may be visiting my sister or mom and at their house I may get bored so I want to eat. TRICK: this what I do...I take wherever I go (work, moms, sisters) a Tupperware FULL of fruit. (grapes, watermelon, strawberries) I am always prepared. You have to be or else you will eat whatever is around.

Read labels and look at the ingredients’ list. If the product contains refined sugar, enriched white flour and high sodium, these are foods best left on the shelf. REFINED and ENRICHED means PROCESSED and they are "refining and enriching" sugar and flour because during the processing the GOOD nutrients were taken out and now replaced with refined/enriched ...bottom line don't get it. (read in the book SKINNY BITCH I am reading)

Let's move onto INSPIRATION pictures and gym!!

Lol, I seen this and love it. HUMOR and FITNESS <3 it!

Don't forget when you workout LIKE me mainly on the treadmill...to tone your body :) I recently got weights for my arms haha. Courtesy of my fiance....My goal is to get my arms looking like this girls. Not too much muscle just enough. I thought I would share that with you. Tone, tone, tone!!!

We ALL need motivation including me.

This is all for today's blog! I plan on doing another one this weekend to keep you and myself motivated. I know with the weekend we tend to hangout as it gets warmer and end up getting busy that we want to pick up fast food. Don't do it....plan ahead. Take fruit in Tupperware with you. If you absolutely can't cook your food go to a restaurant NOT fast food chain and order fish and vegetables. Keep it LEAN. New idea for next blog...cooking! If there is anything you want me to research or tips to help me with this blog don't be shy and comment. I hope everyone has a AWESOME day!!! See you soon. STAY STRONG.

CHANGE is GOOD!!!

Day 33!

Hello world! How have you been? Have you stayed on your NEW routine of eating healthy and working out? If not..it's okay, just pick yourself up and keep moving forward :) One day OFF is actually good for you!!! I only workout six times a week and choose Sunday to be my day off to spend time with my fiance and family AND it is good to give your body much needed rest <3 Also, I choose Saturday to be my day to eat one not so much healthy meal. You MUST have one of those for a couple of reasons 1) You body needs to balance everything out and 2) if you don't eat some "unhealthy" food there is a BIG chance you will go on a eating binge which is way bad! If you get a craving for something (ex-chips) eat them ONLY a few!!! Then move on with your day :) Trust me! It works. Verses just not eating it and later something bad happen..Nom, Nom, Nom <----LOL

Also with me working out six times a week it has been ALL on the treadmill. Which is fine if that's all you have to work with :) However I want to switch it up SO I have decided to start Zumba next week!!! I am really excited to try this out!!! I am leary a bit because I am unsure how many calories I will burn as to on the treadmill I know what I burn :) BUT as the title states CHANGE IS GOOD! So if you find yourself bored with the same old routine just pick up a new hobby!! Yoga, Pilate's, basketball...ANY sport that has multiple reasons to do it :) Me, I love to dance and LOVE music so ZUMBA it is!!!!! Super Excited!!!! Wish me luck ya'll.

Something I find helpful for a new healthy lifestyle is SUPPORT!! You need support! Which brings me to my job! I love that I work at a awesome job and all the ladies I work with are starting a healthy lifestyle too! It is so awesome to see my co workers motivated that it motivates me!!! LOVE it! At times I don't want to workout but I just DO IT! Last night I didn't workout until 10:15p.m. It SUPER SUCKED but it needed to be done. When you hit those points just remember this for inspiration..... (picture below)

I love this quote!!!

The last two items I will write about is SLIM SHADES....and the RECIPE of the week!! Which I am excited to share because my friend actually asked me for the recipe!

I found this cool article. THREE sunglasses that styles that will showcase your face while making it look LONG and LEAN!

1st- AVIATORS, 2nd- Rectangles and 3rd- Cat-Eyes

Aviators- Why they work? The brow bar on these shades will draw attention to the upper part of your face, not your cheeks.

Rectangles- Why they work? When it comes to oversize sunnies, the straight lines of a retangular pair will balance a round face.

Cat Eyes- Why the work? The softer, curved upper corners of these glamorous retro shades will put all the focus on your eyes.

Now recipe time!!! This one is for Tara Z :)

MINI PIZZA: SAUSAGE AND PEPPER 193 calories, 8 g fat (4g saturated) 563 mg sodium

You'll need:
1/4 cup Tomato Sauce
2 English muffins, split
Cooked Chicken Sausage

How to make Pizza:

Giving up is NOT an option.

Day 31 :)

Hello world! This picture below is what I have decided is the most valuable information that I myself can give anyone who is wanting to lose weight. I feel you need to be very knowledgeable in what you are doing so you can make good choices! What I have learned the most so far is YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. Even if you do go to gym daily if you choose not to eat healthy you will still gain weight. I know this is not easy when you have a family or spouse who eats everything. (hint, hint my fiance.) Which brings me to my next topic.

I recently read a article in Weight Watchers magazine called, "LESSONS FROM LOSING" and I want to share with you some valuable information. The author David Kirchhoff had some very valid points that I found interesting and that I may not have thought about too much until I read this. So it goes:

- Most of the food and activity strategies that helped them lose are the SAME ones that help keep the weight off.

- We still live in a food-centric culture that constantly tempts us with occasions to eat.

- We can all learn to master our environment to take control over our relationship with food and activity.

So here we earn the MOST important lessons are these: 1) Develop HABITS (willpower is over-rated) 2) Manage my personal environment. 3) Don't live in deprivation.

My next topic is  HOW TO SURVIVE BRUNCH SEASON! I read this article and KNOW this would be very helpful since summertime is coming up and you get out more and more for a brunch to hangout and catch up with a girlfriend. Here is how to avoid over eating!!! :)

- Think of brunch as lunch (Have something light to eat at home a few hours before heading out)

- Order first (Weight-loss rule of thumb, no matter what meal you're ordering) WHY? you will less likely be swayed by others' choices. I LOVE this tip!!!

- Be a food snob. (Don't waste calories on bland bagel. CHECK online reviews of the restaurant)

- Say, "I've had enough".

I'm glad this was put in the WW magazine. I really love this magazine it has a lot of tips in it. Now I know when this summer comes up I won't have to avoid brunches I can EMBRACE them with more ease! <3

Here is my GYM inspirational picture of the day :)

LOL. Sooo true! At first when I didn't workout to be honest one of my EXCUSES was I didn't want my hair to get messed up and I really did not like sweating. Well, let me tell you what...I love sweating now! When my workout is over I know what I accomplished IS WORTH sweating! "A healthier me".

TIP of the day:

I found this lovely picture on pinterest! I thought this would help some of you and it is very clever and...Why? did I think of that? haha :)

Lastly, I would like to share also from pintrest I found this healthy little snack I decided to try. It is blueberries with GREEK yogurt (honey flavored) and well, it got a little messy and the taste...LOL. I'm not a fan of GREEK yogurt but love blueberries so I eat this frozen snack with a funny face BUT I know it is healthy so I eat it :) Next time I will sub. the GREEK yogurt with regular fat-free yogurt.

I hope the pictures inspired you and you found some tips that will help you continue your healthy lifestyle :) If you have any topics you would like me to look into please feel free to leave a comment!

Healthy Living (About Me)

Hi world. My name is Alyssa and I am starting a blog to not only help me with my new healthy lifestyle but to give you inspiration too! I have found myself needing a extra push (motivation) so I can assume others do too :) I briefly read an article about making a blog to help stick with my new lifestyle so I decided to make one!

I am twenty-six, a part time college student and a part time worker! I love baseball, music, family and friends. I have decided in future blogs I will mainly write about how my day went regarding healthy living and I will put pictures and quotes up for inspiration! Also, I will post what tips I have learned and what fitness magazines, journals, or books I read :) I will try to put one healthy recipe a week! (I will try to blog as much as I can...if it is too much let me know as well) hee.hee

Any suggestions of what else I could add feel free to comment! Let's get started!

Today is Day 29 for me! I started 29 days ago eating healthy AND working out for a hour each day!!! I notice small weight loss which is good and I am excited to see more results! I am actually doing THE COLOR RUN in June! This quote has helped me A LOT.....

I like to call this "KEEP GOING"! I repeat this in my head constantly in my head during my work outs!

TIP: DRINK UP!!! WATER! Make sure you drink at least 2 cups of water a day! AND when you workout chug it!! It helps me stay hydrated! If not I get bad pounding headaches! Also, I found listing to my I-Pod helps me not think about the time :)

APRIL READINGS: I am currently in the process of reading Skinny Bitch by: Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. (I am on chapter 1-Hilarious and straight forward). Today I just bought Weight Watchers and SHAPE magazine!

Well, that is it for my first ever blog! Stay Strong!! and Gym. Tuna. Laundry!!!
